My deepest sympathies to the Quin family. I had the pleasure of working with Rafer until a couple of years ago and I will always remember him with a cheery smile, ever helpful and optimistic. I respected him for his dedication to his team and to BlackBerry. Rest in peace Rafer & God bless.

Rafe was an awesome brother. We were into all of the same things. Computers and music were all we needed, we could talk all night listening to new and classic bands. I remember when he got his new computer how he wanted to show me how amazing it was. He put on Call of Duty for me to try out. I lasted for about 30 seconds. He laughed and then restarted it for me. I lasted 20 seconds. He looked at me and just started laughing because I sucked. He said, well if you could get to the good part you would see how awesome it is. I was never able to get to the good part. :-(

One thing Rafe loved to do was party. He could out party me by a mile. When we were at Rock on the Range in Ohio after Den passed we partied all day at the concert and then into the night when we got back to the hotel. I woke the next day tired and hung over but Rafe was raring to go. I managed to keep up but man did that guy have a lot of stamina. I am going to miss partying with him. He was the best.

No words can express how truly sorry I am for this loss. I was shocked, and instantly crushed when I heard the news. I was so fortunate to meet Rafer at such a formidable time of my life, and he truly helped make me the person I am today. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone, and was the most loyal person I may have ever known. He was a true friend, and even though we drifted apart over the years, when our paths did cross on occasion at work, it was always a pleasant surprise. I will cherish the times that I had with him, and am so grateful to have reconnected with him since April – an unexpected blessing at such a tragic time. He will be deeply missed. My heart now goes out to those that remain in the wake of yet another tragedy.

Deepest Sympathy to the Quin Family, Please accept my fondest wishes and condolences to the Quin Family for your loss. Rafer and I go back a long way within BlackBerry and have been friends for almost 10 years. We have worked together in many areas and have always kept in touch going for breakfast many Fridays for most of that time. Rafer was a good hearted individual always willing to help wherever he could. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone and was a very genuine person. He was the kind of person you could not help but like as he truly was rare bread. He will be deeply missed. Rest in peace Rafer.

My heart and thoughts go out to you at this most difficult time. I am blessed to have been graced by both of your son's big hearts and their inviting personality. It is truly the mark of wonderful parents. Sending all my love and thoughts to Rafe’s parents, Spence, Shawna and their children, and friends of Rafe. I am privileged and honoured to have known and been friends with both Rafe and Den.
