Obituary for Hilda Belle Wright
It is with sadness that we say goodbye to a special mother and grandma. Hilda Belle Wright (Bye) passed away early Monday, April 23, 2018 on her own terms at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Guelph. Gone before her was her love of 57 years, Leo (September 2012) and her son Keith (October 2012). She leaves behind her family – daughters Karen Werner of Kitchener and Ann Marie Wright Bilkan (Mensur) of Mannheim. Proud and loved grandma of Amber and Brittany Werner of Kitchener, Alyssa and Jason Wright of Calgary and Oliver Bilkan of Mannheim. Survived by her sister Jean Goodwin and sisters-in-law Margaret Boland and Evelyn Wright. Remembered by Christine Tyler of Calgary and Cathy Lemon of Airdrie. Predeceased by her siblings Bill, Murray, Mary and Eleanor.
Mom’s life revolved around Dad, her children, grandchildren and friends. Her door was always open for a visit especially at dinner time when she would insist on you staying. She took great pride in her large vegetable garden, flowers, her preserves and yummy pies. Mom was a lifetime member of the Catholic Women’s League and a devoted caregiver for the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON).
A very special thank you is extended to Karen and Bob Martin at Hillside Residence where Mom found a supportive, family environment when dementia became a part of her life. Thank you to the Palliative Care staff and Dr. Brodovsky for their care in her final days.
Family and friends may visit at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 37 Church St. East, Elora on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 9:00pm and Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 10:00 to 10:45am. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 11:00am at St. Mary the Immaculate Catholic Church, 267 Geddes St. Elora. Interment at St. Mary St. Joseph Cemetery, Elora. Donations may be made in Hilda’s memory to the Alzheimers Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation. www.grahamgiddyfh.com
